De Montor from his Lives of the Popes, volume 1, page 25: Alexander was young when he arrived at the pontificate. Some say he was only twenty, and others that he was thirty, when he became Pope. On that point Novaes says: “Alexander was young in years; but in morals, knowledge and virtue he was a veteran.:”
