Associations

  • American Catholic Historical Association (ACHA)
    • The American Catholic Historical Association (ACHA) is a conference of scholars, archivists, and teachers of Catholic studies.  ACHA aims to promote a deeper and more widespread knowledge of the history of the Catholic Church broadly considered, which encompasses its internal life–its growth and expansion from the apostolic age to the present and in all quarters of the Earth.  ACHA's other aim is the advancement of historical scholarship in all fields among its members. 

  • American Theological Library Association (ATLA)
    • The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) is a professional association of nearly 1,000 diverse individual, institutional, and affiliate members providing programs, products, and services in support of theological and religious studies libraries and librarians. ATLA exists so that libraries and librarians are increasingly effective and valued partners in the academic study of religion, theology, and ministry.  Likewise, ATLA exists so that members have access to tools and services that meet current and emerging research needs.   

  • Archivists for Congregations of Women Religious (ACWR) 
    • ACWR is a national organization of approximately 350 members, and born out of awareness that religious archives are unique.  ACWR is open to archivists of women’s religious congregations, historians of women’s history, and anyone supportive of its mission.

  • Association of Catholic Diocesan Archivists (ACDA)
    • The Association of Catholic Diocesan Archivists (ACDA) is committed to the active promotion of professionalism in the management of diocesan archives in North America. ACDA has been working to establish an archival program in every diocese in the U.S. and to assist bishops and chancellors in the development of such programs. 

  • Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU)
    • Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) represents more than 90 percent of accredited Catholic institutions of higher learning in the United States, plus approximately two-dozen international universities. ACCU’s principal purposes are to help member institutions strengthen their stated Catholic mission and to foster collaboration among Catholic colleges and universities.
  • Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU)
    • The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities’ (AJCU) mission is to serve its member institutions: the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. The 28 schools are bonded together by a common heritage, vision and purpose.  AJCU serves as a facilitator for various cooperative initiatives such as fostering Jesuit, Catholic identity and institutional and international collaboration, educating for a faith that does justice, and supporting leadership initiatives.

  • Catholic Archives Society
    • The Catholic Archives Society was founded to promote the care of the archives of the Roman Catholic Church in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, so enabling them to be used for the efficient administration of the diocese, parish, religious foundation or lay society they concern and to be available for research and cultural uses.  The Society provides information, advice and training opportunities for anyone with responsibility for the identification, cataloguing, care and preservation of these archives. 

  • Catholic Library Association (CLA)
    • The Catholic Library Association (CLA) is an international membership organization, providing its members professional development opportunities through educational and networking experiences, publications, scholarships, and other services. CLA coordinates the exchange of ideas, provides a source of inspirational support, and offers guidance in ethical issues related to librarianship, and offers fellowship for those who seek, serve, preserve, and share the word in all its forms.

  • Society of American Archivists (SAA)
    • The Society of American Archivist’s (SAA) mission is to serve the educational and informational needs of more than 6,000 individual and institutional members and to provide leadership to ensure the identification, preservation, and use of records of historical value.

Consortia

  • Center for Research Libraries (CRL)
    • The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) is an international consortium that supports advanced research and teaching in the humanities and social sciences by preserving and making available to scholars the primary source material critical to those disciplines.  CRL acquires and preserves unique and little-known newspapers, journals, documents, archives, and other traditional and digital resources from a global network of sources. CRL enables institutions to provide students, faculty, and other researchers liberal access to these rich source materials through inter-library loan and electronic delivery.  

  • Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism
    • The Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism at the University of Notre Dame brings together scholars from history, theology, women’s studies, sociology, religious studies, American studies, and English to interpret the American Catholic experience.  Through research projects, seminars, conferences, and publications, the Cushwa Center serves as the leading center for the historical study of Roman Catholicism in the United States.

Networks

  • Catholic Peacebuilding Network (CPN)
    • The Catholic Peacebuilding Network (CPN) is comprised of individuals who seek to increase knowledge of and understanding about the unique role of the Catholic Church in being a force of justice and peace in our troubled world. CPN is a network of academics and practitioners who seek to enhance the study and practice of Catholic peacebuilding.
